Kaizer Chiefs news: Velebayi, Nabi, Djoumekou

Kaizer Chiefs have already completed six signings in what has been a deliberate and strategic off-season. Yet their efforts to bring in Cape Town Spurs duo Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman have stalled, as legal uncertainty clouds the potential transfers.

Chiefs maintain that both players are no longer contractually bound to Spurs following the club’s relegation from the Premier Soccer League, while the Cape Town outfit insists the agreements remain valid.

Preparations continue as Djoumekou is offered

While the club’s legal team navigates the dispute, head coach Nasreddine Nabi continues to focus on shaping his squad for the campaign ahead. The Tunisian, tasked with restoring consistency and competitiveness to the Soweto giants, is pressing on with pre-season preparations. With six new arrivals already in the fold, Chiefs are steadily building a group they believe can compete for domestic honours.

In parallel, the club has reportedly been offered the services of Cameroonian striker Ravel Djoumekou, currently playing for FC Saint Eloi Lupopo in the Congolese top flight. The offer has prompted interest within the technical team.

“He is a proven forward who could provide depth and experience,” a source familiar with the discussions said. “He has been presented as an option, and it will now depend on Chiefs’ analysts and scouts to assess whether he meets the technical requirements. Should they choose to proceed, he would be available.”

Another source echoed the sentiment, suggesting that Kaizer Chiefs are not done with their transfer dealings. “The process is ongoing. Some targets are known to the public, others are not. If this particular striker fits the profile, he will certainly be considered. The club remains active as the window stays open.”

Who should Kaizer Chiefs sign?
