Kaizer Chiefs news update: Khanyisa Mayo

Posted on September 12, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs fans have been waiting. Khanyisa Mayo is officially on his way to South Africa after sealing a loan move from Algerian side CR Belouizdad.

According to iDiski Times’ Sinethemba Makonco, the 27-year-old forward, born in Mthatha and raised in Gqeberha, boarded his flight out of Algiers on Thursday afternoon and is set to land in Johannesburg before midnight.

Kaizer Chiefs will do the photoshoot with Mayo in the morning before the official announcement is made around midday.

KHANYISA MAYO ARRIVING AT KAIZER CHIEFS

While Amakhosi and Mayo reached an agreement last week on a season-long loan deal and the obligation to buy next season, his delayed arrival was due to paperwork and clearance holdups in Algeria.

Mayo’s arrival gives Kaizer Chiefs another attacking option as they continue their rebuild under Nasreddine Nabi. The 26-year-old is expected to shake up the front line, but whether he will be used as a winger or striker is unclear.

Khanyisa Mayo’s numbers by position:

  • Striker: 21 goals, five assists in 57 matches
  • Right wing: seven goals, two assists in 26 matches
  • Left wing: three goals, one assist in 19 matches.

WHERE DO YOU THINK KHANYISA MAYO SHOULD PLAY FOR AMAKHOSI?
