Kaizer Chiefs made to wait in Velebayi and Baartman saga

Posted on August 2, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have no choice but to wait for them to know if they will be getting both Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman.

Both Velebayi and Baartman are Cape Town Spurs players, and Chiefs have expressed interest in them.

In fact, Chiefs have already reached an agreement with both players as free agents but Spurs are having none of that.

KAIZER CHIEFS WATCH ON AS VELEBAYI, BAART MATTER IS POSTPONED

Spurs are of the view that none of their players are free agents despite their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.

This is because the two players, in particular, still have ‘existing’ contracts with them, hence they took the matter to the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC).

Spurs are arguing that Velebayi and Baartman remain their players despite not having professional contracts with them.

Now, following submissions by Spurs, the PSL DRC has postponed the matter to Monday, 4 August.

Chiefs will be watching with keen interest to see if they will get their two targeted attackers before the kick off the campaign.
