Kaizer Chiefs legend warns Silva

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Collins Mbesuma has given his thoughts on Amakhosi new forward Flavio Silva.

The 29-year-old joined Chiefs in July and went to the Netherlands last month with the club for their pre-season tour. Despite firing blanks in Europe, Silva showed a glimpse of brilliance in the Toyota Cup against Asanta Kotoko two weeks ago.

Mbesuma feels the Kaizer Chiefs new man needs a bit of work to improve and get the goals for his new club.

“As a team, Kaizer Chiefs – especially the players playing up front – have a lot to improve on,” the former Zambian international told KickOff.

“At a club like Chiefs, there is always pressure on the players. Fans come to the stadium to see goals, and the expectation is high. There’s always pressure because the culture of the team is to win trophies. This pressure will remain until the team starts winning trophies consistently.”

“So, any new player must deliver immediately.”

“The new striker has shown some good moments, but I want to see him make more runs into the box and spend more time there. He needs to be more forceful inside the box.

“During the match at Moses Mabhida, there were moments when he was making runs away from the box and towards the wings,” Mbesuma said.

Can Silva score goals for Chiefs?
