Kaizer Chiefs: Injuries and suspensions

Posted on January 30, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs have made a strong start to 2026, winning three consecutive matches across all competitions.

They also began the 2025/26 season with three straight wins in the league before experiencing a slight slump towards the end of the year.

Under the management of Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, the Soweto giants have been solid defensively, conceding just three goals while the duo has been in charge.

Kaizer Chiefs second on the log

Earlier this season, the club had several key players nursing injuries, but currently, only two players are still on the road to recovery:

Rushiwn Dortley
The 24-year-old talented defender has not played since suffering a knee injury nearly a year ago. He has made progress in his recovery but is unlikely to feature anytime soon.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa
Known as “The Ox,” Mthethwa has been one of the most improved players in the Betway Premiership this season. Unfortunately, his injury came at a critical time, as he was playing a vital role for the team in midfield.

Kaizer Chiefs players facing suspension:

Sibongiseni Mthethwa
The 31-year-old hardman has accumulated three yellow cards this season, and receiving one more could result in a one-match suspension.

Aden McCarthy
The young defender is also one yellow card away from a one-match suspension. He scored the crucial goal in Amakhosi’s 1-0 victory against Lamontville Golden Arrows last week.

Miguel Inacio

The Kaizer Chiefs defender has already served a one-match suspension but is skating on thin ice in the CAF Confederation Cup. If he is booked in the competition, he will have to miss one match.

Kaizer Chiefs are in action against Zesco United in the CAF Confederation Cup as they look for their fourth successive win. A home win will put them in a good place to reach the last eight of the competition.
