Goals from Tebogo Potsane and Siphesihle Jeza secured a 2-0 Betway Premiership victory for Siwelele FC over Kaizer Chiefs at Toyota Stadium on Wednesday night, ending Amakhosi’s seven-match unbeaten run.
SIWELELE STRIKE EARLY TO SET THE TONE
The hosts made a bright start and caught Kaizer Chiefs off guard early on. Just seven minutes into the match, Potsane reacted quickest after Manelisi Mazibuko’s initial effort was parried, giving Siwelele the lead and setting the tone for the evening.

That early setback disrupted Amakhosi’s rhythm, with the visitors looking slightly off the pace following their recent Soweto Derby outing.
KAIZER CHIEFS STRUGGLE DESPITE SECOND-HALF RESPONSE
Siwelele grew in confidence as the half progressed and doubled their advantage in the 26th minute. It was a well-constructed move, with Ghampani Lungu setting up Jeza, who finished calmly to score his first professional goal and give the hosts a comfortable lead at the break.
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze admitted his side fell short in the opening half.
“It was a game of two halves, we were not there in the first half and everything, starting from the build-up, offensive and defensive ways, and when you’re not there, you will get punished, our reactions were too late,” he said to SuperSport TV after the game.
The Burundian admitted that once the match was over, there were several questions about whether more rotations could have been made to introduce fresher legs and minds, adding that it is the coach’s responsibility to anticipate such situations. He said the team now needs to focus and improve in their upcoming matches.
“I believe we came back from half-time with the right mindset, we were unlucky at some points, we missed many opportunities to score but that’s how football is and we will take the positive mindset we took in the second half, going into our next game against Sundowns,” Kaze concluded.
