Kaitano Tembo set for shock DStv Premiership return

Kaitano Tembo could be set for a shock return to the DStv Premiership after reports emerged that he is in talks with one of the clubs about becoming their new head coach.

Tembo, whose last job was with Sekhukhune United last season, is a former Zimbabwe international who has also had spells as head coach of SuperSport United and Sekhukhune.

With Babina Noko, he presided over 12 league matches in the first round of the 2022/23 season, winning only two and drawing five times while also losing five.

Richards Bay FC are currently looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Vasilis Manousakis at the end of the 2022/23 season. Manousakis led the team to a 13 -place finish in the DStv Premiership. The club’s management felt that they needed a change in direction.

Tembo is seen as a strong candidate for the Richards Bay FC job. He has a wealth of experience in South African football although he has found the going tough in the dugout.

It is not yet clear whether Tembo will accept the Richards Bay FC job. If Tembo joins Richards Bay, he will be tasked with leading the team to a higher finish in the PSL.
