Jersey number spotted: Kaizer Chiefs’ Velebayi

What a long wait for Kaizer Chiefs fans. Asanele Velebayi finally drove on Lena Road through the gate of Naturena.

The 22-year-old winger joins after the departure of Tebogo Potsane, who played in the left-winger position for Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi announced the Phillipi-born star after he won his contractual case against his former club Cape Town Spurs.

“Asanele Velebayi has officially joined Kaizer Chiefs,” the Soweto giants confirmed. “The Cape Town-born winger has signed a long-term contract, fulfilling his lifelong dream of wearing the Gold & Black colours of Amakhosi.

In the meantime, an image of Velebayi and his agent is doing the rounds on social media. It features Velebayi and his representative holding his Kaizer Chiefs shirt with the number 17 on the back.

The jersey was previously worn by the Venezuelan midfielder Edson Castillo.
