Relebohile Mofokeng’s NEW celebration excites fans [Video]

Orlando Pirates superstar Relebohile Mofokeng has the eyes of the PSL football fraternity on him.

Mofokeng remains one of the most closely watched talents in the PSL, and so the Bucs have done well to hold onto their prized asset despite significant interest from abroad.

However, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, it feels increasingly inevitable that Pirates’ grip on their megastar will eventually loosen.

The good news for Mofokeng is that he has rediscovered top form at exactly the right time.

The young Pirates attacker faced heavy criticism after missing a gilt-edged chance during South Africa national soccer team’s 2-1 loss to Cameroon in the quarter finals of the 2026 AFCON in Morocco. Critics were quick to question him, with some labelling him ‘too small’ and others suggesting he was ‘overrated’.

He responded in the best possible way – Mofokeng let his actions speak.

Mofokeng scored three goals and provided three assists in as many matches to emphatically silence his doubters. Thereafter, Mofokeng put in a lively display in a losing efforts when Pirates were defeated 2-1 by defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium.

The dynamic and skilful forward is peaking at precisely the right moment, with Bafana Bafana set to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico later this year.

For Pirates supporters, the immediate relief is that the club has retained him at least until the next transfer window despite mounting overseas interest.

PIRATES UNLIKELY TO KEEP MOFOKENG BEYOND THE FIFA WORLD CUP

As it stands, Mofokeng has attracted serious interest from clubs in the United States, the Middle East, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Interestingly, a lot of that interest emerged before he publicly expressed his openness to a move abroad.

Now, that he has admitted he is ready to spread his wings and embrace a new challenge, the landscape has shifted. Suitors will circle with greater intent.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup opportunity for Mofokeng to show off his talent and skill to the world. So, should Mofokeng secure his place in Hugo Broos’s final squad (this is very likely), he will gain massive international exposure on football’s biggest stage.

Therefore, it will be very difficult for Pirates to keep their fan favourite at Mayfair for much longer.
