Downs former star declines R40K per month to be controversial like Junior Khanye

Former Kaizer Chiefs right winger Junior Khanye who has had a second lease on life has built himself a huge reputation of being largely known as a huge critic of South African football.

“Aghahowa” as he was affectionately known as during his playing days and who has not officially announced his retirement from the sport often targets his former club Kaizer Chiefs whose trophy drought spell will extend into a ninth year next season.

Now, an outspoken Mamelodi Sundowns legend has revealed that being controversial like the former Kaizer Chiefs winger can be quite lucrative and that he recently declined a similar offer.

This week, former Mamelodi Sundowns left back defender Jethro Mohlala who is popularly known as Lovers Mohlala took to his Facebook account where he revealed that he recently declined a lucrative offer of R40 000 per month to be controversial like Junior Khanye who currently serves as a football pundit at iDiski Times.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns jersey number 12 took to the popular platform where he wrote, “I was asked to be controversial like Junior and I will get R40K a month, I refused”.

Former Kaizer Chiefs right winger Junior Khanye and Mamelodi Sundowns legend Lovers Mohlala who became synonymous with the colours of the Naturena based outfit and the colours of the Chloorkop based outfit respectively also plied their trade in 11 different teams combined during their playing days.

According to their player profiles on German website 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘵, Junior Khanye also plied his trade at now defunct Platinum Stars, Maritzburg United, United FC and at Malanti Chiefs (Swaziland).

In the case of Lovers Mohlala, the 47 year old Alexandra born retired footballer also plied his trade at now defunct Bidvest Wits, Jomo Cosmos, Aris Thessaloniki (Greece), now defunct Silver Stars, Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu and at Black Leopards.
