Cape Town City continued their winless run after narrowly going down 1-0 to table-toppers Casric Stars who made it three wins on the trot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The loss for the Citizens has seen them drop into 15th spot and are still without three points after drawing their opening two matches. Stars made it three wins out of three, without conceding a goal, and moved to first place with nine points.
Kruger United scored two goals in the first half through Kgopotso Zitha and Khethukuthula Ndlovu. Lerumo United pulled one back in the second half to make it 2-1 but that was not enough to secure a point.
Hungry Lions narrowly beat renamed Leicesterford City 1-0.
A late goal from Menzi Chili secured a massive three points for Milford FC against Clinton Larsen’s Venda FC while newly promoted Gomora United held Pretoria University to a goalless draw.
Highbury FC’s second half penalty from Siyabonga Dubula was enough to hand them maximum points against Baroka FC. This is Amajuba’s first win of the season after two draws while Bakgakga succumbed to their second defeat of the season.
Veteran striker Ndumiso Mabena and Kamohelo Mashiloane came from the bench to score two goals for The Bees as they beat Midlands Wanderers 2-0 to register their second win of the season.
