HOW SUNDOWNS REACHED THE FINAL

Sundowns booked a return to the continental final after falling short against Pyramids FC in the 2025 final.

Their campaign began with a dominant qualifying-round victory over Remo Stars before progressing from a difficult Group C as runners-up behind Al Hilal. They also came through challenging fixtures against MC Alger and Saint-Éloi Lupopo.

In the knockout stages, Sundowns edged past Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals before defeating Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

AS FAR’S ROAD TO THE FINAL

Rabat also battled through a demanding route to reach the final.

The Moroccan side began with aggregate victories over Real de Banjul and Horoya in the qualifying rounds before advancing from Group B as runners-up behind Al Ahly. They secured qualification ahead of Young Africans and JS Kabylie.

In the knockout rounds, AS FAR defeated Pyramids FC 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals before overcoming domestic rivals RS Berkane 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

DOMESTIC FORM

Sundowns concluded their domestic Betway Premiership campaign with 68 points, securing 20 wins, 8 draws, and 2 defeats. Their season ended with a 3-2 away loss against TS Galaxy.

AS FAR Rabat remain completely unbeaten through 20 matches in Morocco’s Botola Pro, collecting 40 points from 10 wins and 10 draws. They sit just one point behind league leaders Maghreb de Fès, backed by a stellar defence that has conceded only 11 goals. Their most recent domestic outing was a high-scoring 3-3 away draw against Hassania Agadir.
