Former Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane believes Kaizer Chiefs style of play will benefit the national team in due course.
With the majority of Bafana Bafana coming from Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, “Jingles” has credited the teams’ style of play, which has helped the national team.
Bafana’s style of play has changed in the past few years mainly due to coach Hugo Broos selecting a bulk of Downs players. At the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Bafana reached the semi-finals and the coach credited Sundowns’ success.
With Pirates winning domestic trophies and challenging Masandawana, Pitso feels Chiefs could soon have a team that can be embedded into the national team.
“You can see that Pirates are doing well, and their players are in Bafana and Sundowns always help with players in Bafana [as well], and the style of play in Bafana is exactly the same [as] what you see in Pirates and Sundowns,” Mosimane told Sowetan.

“It [the Sundowns and Pirates style of play] benefits the national team; the [Bafana] coach [Hugo Broos] doesn’t have to do much because the style is embedded there,” Mosimane added.
“I think Chiefs will follow very soon. The coach [Broos] is good… he’s really done exceptionally well.”
Pitso Mosimane has not coached a club since leaving Iran despite links to Kaizer Chiefs. Last year in October, Jingles was appointed as head coach of the Iranian club Esteghlal in the Persian Gulf Pro League. Unfortunately, poor results led to his dismissal earlier this year and he has since been without a team.
In some of his interviews, Pitso revealed that Chiefs or any PSL teams never contacted him for his services but he was willing to join any club if “the project was right”.
