Bobby Motaung Urges Patience as Chiefs Prepare for Silent Rebuild

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has addressed growing fan frustration over the club’s quiet transfer window, assuring supporters that strategic moves are being finalized behind the scenes.

While rivals Orlando Pirates have made flashy signings – including snatching long-time Chiefs target Sipho Mbule – the Naturena-based outfit remains the only PSL club yet to announce new players following their worst league finish in decades (9th place).

“Announcements will come at the right time,” Motaung told Marawa Sports Worldwide. “We ask our faithful to trust the process as we finalize plans for next season.”

The executive confirmed new coach Nasreddine Nabi has landed in South Africa and begun technical meetings ahead of next week’s crucial pre-season tour in the Netherlands. Chiefs will play four Dutch top-flight clubs during their two-week European camp (July 4-19), with an additional closed-door match against FC Utrecht.

Motaung promised full transparency about squad changes once pre-season preparations intensify, hinting that player announcements may coincide with the team’s return from Europe just before the new campaign. The club’s hierarchy appears focused on ensuring Nabi approves all signings before making any public commitments.

With their Netherlands tour featuring matches against FC Twente, PEC Zwolle, NEC Nijmegen and Vitesse Arnhem, Chiefs are banking on European preparations to gel their eventual new-look squad ahead of the 2025/26 season opener.
