Betway Premiership LOG after opening weekend

Posted on August 10, 2025

The first weekend of action in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season is in the record books – and what a weekend it was!

All 16 teams were in action, there were six winners, six losers and two drawn matches.

A total of 15 goals were scored.

It was a great weekend for two of the three newcomers to the top-flight with Siwelele FC beating Golden Arrows 3-1, while Gavin Hunt’s Durban City beat TS Galaxy 2-0.

Orbit College, however, went down 1-0 to AmaZulu.

Somewhat surprisingly, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns were held t a 1-1 draw by Chippa United while Orlando Pirates went down 1-0 at home against Sekhukhune United.

On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs made the perfect start to their campaign, winning 2-0 on the road against Stellenbosch FC.

The next matches are scheduled for Tuesday, 12 August.
