The 2024/25 Premier Soccer League awards have started to be announced this evening, with Mamelodi Sundowns receiving the first award.

The awards were delayed due to Mamelodi Sundowns’ participation in the FIFA Club World Cup but took place on Tuesday evening.

League chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza handed out the first award of the evening, the Chairman’s award to Mamelodi Sundowns for how they represented the league at the FIFA Club World Cup, being the best African team.

Relebohile Mofokeng was named the MTN8 Last Man Standing, lifting his first award of the evening, while Elvis Chipezeze won the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament.

Mofokeng was beaten by his teammate Mbekezeli Mbokazi to the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player, while Kaizer Chiefs’ Pule Mmodi was named Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.

Orlando Pirates had a clean sweep in the positional Betway Premiership awards, with Sipho Chaine, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Makhehleni Makhaula winning keeper, defender and midfielder of the season, while Mofokeng claimed his second award of the night, being named Young Player of the Season.

But it was Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro Costa, who ended up the big winner of the night after being named PSL Footballer of the Season, Betway Premiership Player’s Player of the Season, while also winning the Goal of the Season for his solo run against Pirates, and of course claiming the Golden Boot.
