Sundowns and Pitso Mosimane to finally bury the hatchet

Posted on December 30, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns and Pitso Mosimane have been at loggerheads since he left the club.

The legendary South African coach who enjoyed a record-breaking spell at Masandawana has been on bad terms with the club for five years now.

This comes after a courtroom battle took place between his agent and wife Moira Tlhagale and the club.

New reports however suggest the two parties are ready to move on from their high-profile fall out.

Mosimane and Sundowns to finally make peace?

Mosimane spent over eight years at Mamelodi Sundowns FC. He guided the club to 11 major trophies including the CAF Champions League title.

He eventually left the club as a hero in 2020 when he joined Egyptian giants Al Ahly. After his departure however is when things went sour.

His agency’s legal battle with Sundowns stole the headlines and the fallout was well publicised.

He was even greeted by severe hostility on his return to Pretoria with Al Ahly by the club’s fans.

Now, KickOff are reporting some incredible ‘breaking news’ from Chloorkop.

According to the publication, “Mosimane and Masandawana are looking at putting their recent past behind them and mending the fractured relationship.”

“All indications are that the two parties will shake hands and pave the way for future opportunities. And with signs pointing to a mended relationship, it would open the door for a potential return to Sundowns for Mosimane in the future, should the opportunity present itself.”

Mosimane’s current job

Mosimane is currently focusing on his grassroots programme. He has been ‘unemployed’ since January.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll ever coach Sundowns again.

And while that may be a distant reality, it’s refreshing to know the coach who brought so much of joy to Chloorkop is sorting his issues out with the club.
