New update on Du Preez’ future at Kaizer Chiefs

Posted on December 30, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have a number of major decisions to make in the January transfer window.

Some of their players have struggled to get going this season, prompting tough questions to be asked regarding their immediate futures at the club.

Such is the pressure at Naturena. It’s not a place where one can exactly ‘regain’ their form at. You’re expected to be firing on all cylinders, every game.

Kaizer Chiefs back Du Preez

One such player that has seriously been struggling for Kaizer Chiefs is Ashley Du Preez.

The undeniably talented winger is enduring his worst season in professional football.

From glaring misses to wayward passes, it’s no secret Du Preez is completely out of form.

This season, the speedy winger has made eight appearances for the Glamour Boys.

He has just a solitary assist to show for his efforts.

New reports however suggest that despite his form, Du Preez has the full confidence of Kaizer Chiefs’ management.

The Glamour Boys are not looking at loaning him out in January. In fact, according to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs are ready to back Du Preez in 2026 as they believe his best form is around the corner.

“They want him to stay at Kaizer Chiefs. They believe he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in South Africa. Management want him to just fight for his place. You know he still has a lot of potential, a lot of room to contribute to the club,” an insider told the publication.

Du Preez’ numbers in the PSL

The 28-year-old attacker has already made 161 professional appearances.

He has 19 goals and nine assists to his name for Kaizer Chiefs. At Stellenbosch, Du Preez scored 13 goals while assisting eight more.
