‘You can’t ignore the influence of the Khoza brothers’: Ex-Pirates star

Posted on December 28, 2025

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Eugene Zwane has highlighted the importance of Irvin Khoza’s sons Mpumi and Nkosana at the club.

The two brothers have been heavuky invoilved in the management side of things at the club for several years. With the Buccaneers winning eight trophies in five years, Zwane feels the Khoza brothers should be praised.

The club‘s chairman Irvin Khoza has taken a backseat in recent years, with his sons taking charge of transfers and marketing.

“Most definitely, you can’t ignore the increasing influence of the Khoza brothers (Nkosana and Mpumi) in the day to day management of the team,” Zwane told Soccer Laduma.

“They are full of energy, they are young, slightly older than the players themselves. So they know how modern players behave and because they are young and full of energy, they are aware of most of the things that are going on.”

Zwane said that the brothers were given a mandate by the chairman to get sponsors and negotiate to get top players to the club. So far, the Buccaneers signed top players in the country such as Sipho Mbule, Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi.

“I also hear on the business side and commercial side, the chairman (Dr. Irvin Khoza) has given them the mandate to find sponsors, negotiate terms and all of those things,” Zwane said.

“We’re seeing them signing sponsors, it looks like they have learned from the chairman, they are doing a very great job,” the former Jomo Cosmos star said.

With the Khoza brothers improving the club, Orlando Pirates will become even more successful in the coming years.
