Baloyi calls for new head coach at Kaizer Chiefs

Posted on December 24, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brian Baloyi feels the Amakhosi should replace their co-coaches during the Premier Soccer League (PSL) break.

Having sacked Nasreddine Nabi in October, Amakhosi promoted Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef as co-coaches until the end of the season.

The two coaches have had some success but are still four points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates.

Baloyi believes Kaizer Chiefs will be better off with a new top coach at the helm in the second half of the season.

“Is it the right move to keep them until the end of the season? In my opinion, no. Looking at the type of players, if they have the right coach, they can challenge for the league,” he said on SoccerBeat.

“There’s enough time to bring a new coach, but at the end of the day, it’s the club’s decision to make.”

“Spider-Man” also added that the lack of leadership has affected the team’s performance.

“For me, it’s evident. You can see during the start of games, one coach appears to be the one in charge and then in the middle of the game, then it’s another one. It affects the player and even between the two of them, decides who is the head, who is the assistant,” Baloyi added.

Baloyi felt that different messages are going through players, making it difficult for Kaizer Chiefs players to play at their fullest. It remains to be seen if Amakhosi will pull the plug on Ben Youssef and Kaze.
