Kaizer Chiefs to sell teen prodigy and veteran striker

Posted on December 24, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs are clearing the decks. They could be parting ways with a veteran striker and a rising star from the academy.

Teenage striker Camrin Smit turned heads with his physical frame and clinical finishing. However, the 19-year-old has had terrible luck with injury.

Kaizer Chiefs to offload unfortunate Smit

Camrin Smit will leave Kaizer Chiefs despite impressing the technical staff. The teenager spent 13 months on the sidelines with a serious achilles injury. Another player on the opposite end of the career spectrum, Tashreeq Morris, is also destined to leave Naturena after failing to secure a regular place in the first team. The 31-year-old has zero appearances in the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership campaign.

“Camrin Smit (2006) joined Kaizer Chiefs U17 at the beginning of 2023 and started his career at Amakhosi like a house on fire,”

The burly striker has been spotted training with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Midlands Wanderers and could join their academy soon, according to GOAL.

“Seven games, five goals, five assists; unfortunately, he suffered an Achilles injury and was out for 13 months. This past weekend, he made his return and scored a brace.”

Best Kaizer Chiefs XI aged 25 or younger

Molefe; Monyane, McCarthy, Dortley, Cross; Shabalala, Vilakazi, Duba, Velebayi; Baartman, Ighodaro

The GLARING issue with this XI is that there are no holding or central midfielders.

There’s not a healthy mix of youth and experience in that portion of the pitch for Amakhosi.
