WHAT’S NEXT?

Speaking on the Africa Connect podcast, Kaizer Chiefs Head of Scouting and Recruitment, Thembela Maliwa, confirmed business is done for the January window, while June 2026 transfer plans are already in full swing.

“I’ve already started preparing for the June 2026 transfer window,” Maliwa said. “And we are seven months before that. And I’ve finished preparing for January three or four months ago, before we even finished the previous window [July to September].

Maliwa explained that recruitment does not begin over a short period, stressing that clubs must have a clear strategy in place, with negotiations for the June transfer window starting well in advance.

“The processes of talking to the coaches, sporting director, the player you have seen, the reports you have seen, it happens now before June 2026,” the Kaizer Chiefs talent spotter added.
