How Much Prize Money Pirates Earned From CKO & MTN8

Posted on December 8, 2025

Orlando Pirates have secured the first two trophies of the 2025/26 domestic season, lifting the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday after already securing the MTN8 earlier.

The Buccaneers needed extra-time in both finals but managed to secure the trophies – making it seven domestic cup wins out of the last 10 on offer.

This past weekend, Relebohile Mofokeng scored the 1-0 winner to secure Pirates’ first Carling Cup since 2011.

And the cup win has brought the club another R6.6 million in prize money, with Mpumi Khoza accepting the cheque on behalf of the Buccaneers.

In addition, Pirates had already banked R10 million from winning the MTN8 for a fourth consecutive season – a wave of success which has splashed R40 million overall into the club’s bank accounts.

Pirates are again in action on Saturday, when they will take on the Carling All Stars XI, which is voted for by fans, in the Carling Black Label Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
