Casric Stars were in rampant mood crushing Leicesterford City 4-0 while Cape Town City finished 2025 on a high note after defeating Highbury FC 1-0 in Sunday’s Motsepe Foundation Championship encounters.
City continued with their great form after beating Highbury with a late penalty from Jaeden Rhodes to seal the three points for Citizens and extended their unbeaten run to five matches in the league. Rhodes played his 100th game as a City player.
League leaders Milford FC suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat against relegation-threatened Wanderers. Blessing Mchunu scored a third minute penalty before Zwelihle Phewa slotted home in the 70th minute. Milford remained top of the table two points above Casric.
Stars did themselves a favour by hammering Leicesterford and kept their title hopes alive. City dropped to 10th place.
Black Leopards’ struggles continued after a 2-2 draw against Gomora United. Lidoda Duvha remains bottom of the table two points above safety while Gomora are six points clear of relegation.
The Bees shocked Kruger United after beating them 3-1. Lebogang Lingela opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Sicelo Serero doubled the lead after the hour mark. Veteran striker Ndumiso Mabena made it 3-0 with 10 minutes remaining. Thulani Ndlela then pulled one back to make it 3-1 but that wasn’t enough.
Baroka suffered a 1-0 defeat against Clinton Larsen’s Venda FC. Meanwhile, Musa Nyatama’s Upington City lost to Hungry Lions FC at home by a solitary goal in the Northern Cape Derby.
