Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze was impressed with midfielder Lebohang Maboe’s performance in the 1-1 draw with Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
Maboe, a product of Chiefs development ranks returned to club as a first team player at the beginning of the season after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns. The 31-year-old had made only two appearances before the side’s second Group D clash.
He started the encounter against the former Confed Cup champions, manning the midfield alongside Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa and played the whole game. Kaze rated the player’s performance highly, saying that Maboe helps to elevate the technical quality of the team.
“I believe that the whole team, they played very well they helped each other,” said Kaze.
“Maboe we know his technical qualities, a player that drives you forward. He’s a player that can find the players in very tight spaces.
“He had a very good game and he’s a player that drives the other players and you need a player that can level up the technical quality of the team.”
