Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star blasts key defender

Posted on November 25, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has questioned defender Miguel Inacio’s defending after Amakhosi’s 2-1 defeat to Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup match on Sunday.

The Glmaour Boys looked to have secured a draw away from home but a mistake at the back saw the Egyptians claim all three points.

Miguel failed to clear the ball in the 18 area and Al Masry pounced and scored the winner with two minutes left on the clock.

After the match, Khanye blamed the Kaizer Chiefs defender for conceding a silly goal.

“It was a high school mistake from this guy Miguel,” Khanye told iDiski TV.

“He is an experienced player and an international … It was a critical phase of the game”.

The former winger also questioned the Chiefs midfield which consisted of Thabo Cele and Sibongiseni Mthethwa.

“We have to question the midfield. Mthethwa and Cele were not functional.

“We need a proper number 6 in midfield. In this game, they were exposed. They might get away with it in some Betway Premiership games but not here,” Khanye said.

Kaizer Chiefs defender faces criticism

Miguel’s mistake cost Amakhosi atleast a point on Sunday.

Chiefs next face Magesi in the league on 26 November before returning to continental football on 30 November. They host Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek, hoping for their first victory in Group D.

The Soweto giants know anything less than a victory could see their chances of reaching the quarter-finals evaporate.

Can Chiefs get their CAF CC back on track?
