Du Preez, Mmodi and Miguel balmed for Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF defeat

Posted on November 23, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs supporters were not happy with several of their players after their club suffered a 2-1 loss to Al Masry in their CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener on Sunday evening.

Amakhosi looked well poised to secure a draw in Egypt, but a mistake by Inacio Miguel saw Masry claim all three points.

The Soweto giants played well away from home and responded to Bonheur Mugisha’s opener when Dillan Solomons went past two defenders to score an equaliser for Kaizer Chiefs.

A late blunder saw the home side capitalise after a mistake from Miguel. Amakhosi will host Egyptian giants Zamalek next weekend, hoping to earn their first CAF Confederation Cup group win.

Kaizer Chiefs fans react to CAF loss

Chiefs fans took to social media to react after their side conceded a late goal.

@khani_hlahla wrote: “Stop forcing Mmodi and Du Preez down our throats …..what more do you want Vilakazi to do to prove his worth? We started playing after those subscribers…also bring Monyane back..Miguel, if not getting a useless card..he made a mistake that cost us.

@sirgoatedza wrote: “No need to panic. We still have 5 games to go. We just need to fix those errors we have at the back. Miguel was our weakest link from second half. He plays with lots of emotions, but other than that we will beat this team handsomely here back home. Our boys tried to be honest.”

Kaizer Chiefs already lost two CAF CONFED matches

@SelebaloMmereki wrote: “You have a winning team that’s proper and you decide to start Mmodi and Du Perez and with the worst defender like Miguel then you shouldn’t be surprised when you don’t win.”
