CT City Held & Kruger Stun Casric

Posted on November 22, 2025

Kruger United caused the upset of the weekend as they beat Casric Stars 3-2 to hand the log leaders their first defeat of the current Motsepe Foundation Championshp campaign.

On Friday night, Venda FC narrowly beat Black Leopards 1-0 in the Venda Derby with Deolin Mekoa’s sole strike enough to move his side eighth.

Cape Town City missed out on a chance to move into the top-half of the table after being held to a dull 0-0 draw by Upington City.

In the five-goal thriller between top-of-the-table sides Casric and Kruger, it was the latter who emerged 3-2 victors handing Stars their first taste of defeat of the campaign. Sbusiso Zitha scored for Kruger just four minutes in, but Zebulon Mtshweni equalized for Casric in the eighth minute. Kruger restored parity through Bongokuhle Maphumulo in the 56th minute but Fils Moukete struck in the 73rd minute to make it 2-2. Five minutes before end of the game, it was the home side who had the last laugh as Manquba Zwane handed Kruger the maximum points as the game ended 3-2.

Pretoria University pulled off a smash-and-grab 93rd minute winner at home with Camagu Mdevulana’s shot from just outside the penalty box placing the ball in the top right corner.

Leicesterford City and Baroka could not be separated as a 1-1 spoils were shared.
