Ramoreboli – My Only Worry With Bafana

Posted on November 19, 2025

Botswana head coach Morena Ramoreboli has expressed his only concern about Bafana Bafana, who have been performing impressively under Hugo Broos.

South Africa have been in exceptional form, going 25 matches unbeaten under the guidance of the Belgian coach.

They recently booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. Before then, they’ll be looking to make a strong impact at the AFCON tournament in Morocco next month.

Ramoreboli has praised the work Broos has done, noting that South Africa still has plenty to offer with a squad filled with young talent.

However, he expressed concern that young players performing well can quickly slip into complacency if they become too excited and if not consistently challenged.

“I still feel that there’s so much that the current Bafana Bafana team can give,” said Ramoreboli during an interview with SAFJA.

“My only worry is that if they are complacent, they are not going to achieve greater things.

“They have talented players and sometimes working with young players, the advantage that is they will always try to push but they quickly become excited when things go well because for them. They always try to challenge themselves and if there’s nothing challenging them, they become complacent sometimes.

“But I still feel that with proper focus, proper mentality, they have a chance of maybe playing with us [Botswana] in the semifinals.”
