Orlando Pirates are reportedly targeting the January transfer window to sharpen their attack.
Stellenbosch FC’s attacking midfielder, Andre de Jong, could wear black and white colours soon after the Afcon concludes on 16 January 2026.
ORLANDO PIRATES REKINDLE INTEREST IN STELLENBOSCH FC’S ANDRE DE JONG
According to the latest report, talks between the Buccaneers and Stellenbosch FC are expected to be revived soon. The two clubs held negotiations back in September, when the Soweto giants made a late dash for the New Zealand international. Stellenbosch were willing to chat, but with the clock ticking and no replacement lined up, the deal crashed right at the finish line.
“The clubs just couldn’t reach the agreement,” Stellies CEO Rob Benadie told iDiski Times in September.
SABC Sport’s leading reporter, Mazola Molefe, has reported that Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch are set to resume the talks, and with fewer obstacles this time around.
De Jong has chipped in with two goals and an assist from 12 matches this season, even as Stellenbosch sit worryingly close to the Betway Premiership basement with only two wins in 12 games.
His numbers from last season read eight goals and five assists across 47 outings. The former AmaZulu and Royal AM footballer is not defined by his numbers. De Jong is recognised as one of the most intelligent, hard-running and selfless attacking midfielders in Mzansi.

Should he eventually wear an Orlando Pirates tracksuit in January, he will compete with Sipho Mbule and Patrick Maswanganyi for the number 10 role.
