Masuku Makes Surprise Move Abroad

Posted on November 17, 2025

Former Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates playmaker Menzi Masuku has made a surprise move abroad to Al-Shabab Club.

The 32-year-old who was part of the South Africa national team squad that competed at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) earlier this year after his exit at Arrows, has resurfaced in Bahrain.

Once one of the most promising talents in the country, his journey from Mpumalanga Black Aces, Roses United and then Jomo Cosmos, led him to Pirates where he starred in the reserve team before an explosive two-goal starting debut for the Buccaneers.

He went on to form part of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations squad that finished third back in 2015 and qualified for the Olympics where he made the final squad in Rio, Brazil led by Owen da Gama.

Masuku has since played for Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic, Royal AM and Arrows over the last decade with over 200 games under his belt in the South African top-flight, scoring 19 goals with 21 assists.
