Mabasa On Reaching Major Pirates Milestone

Posted on November 12, 2025

Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has opened up about his milestone of reaching 50 goals for the club.

Mabasa has bern used sparingly by head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou this season – featuring nine time in all competitions, with his milestone goal coming in the league match against TS Galaxy earlier in the season.

It has taken the 29-year-old eight goals within Benedict Tso Vilakazi’s 58-goal tally, the highest by any Pirates player in history.

Mabasa spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 229 of the newspaper where he said he hopes his milestone inspires young players.

‘For me, it really means a lot to have scored 50 goals for Pirates,” Mabasa told iDiski Times.

“This is a club I grew up supporting and dreaming to play for. So to achieve such a huge milestone is the stuff of realised dreams.

‘And it really shows that if you believe, have the discipline to work hard and pray for what you’d like to get, you will achieve it. I hope that this tells the young players out there that their dreams are valid.’

Mabasa added that the moment was special even for his family and that he hopes to break Tso’s record.

‘It is very special, and my family is very proud of me, and I know I would not have gotten this far without their undying support. Hopefully, I can continue scoring and get that record.’
