Orlando Pirates fans show up at Springbok game

Posted on November 10, 2025

South Africans were amused after spotting not one but two Springboks supporters donning Orlando Pirates t-shirts at the match against France over the weekend.

The Boks beat Les Bleus 32-17 at Stade de France, the first time the countries have played each other since the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

SPRINGBOK SUPPORTERS DOUBLE AS ORLANDO PIRATES FANS

On social media, South Africans were tickled pink to spot two rugby fans sporting Orlando Pirates kits at the Springboks match.

The supporters proudly wore their merchandise while seated in the stands of the Stade de France.

BIGGER THAN THE BOKS?

According to Brand Finance Africa, the Orlando Springboks are the second-largest sports brand in South Africa, with the Springboks taking the top spot.

Reacting to the information, Buccaneers boss Irvin Khoza said: “Orlando Pirates is ranked number two in the biggest brands in South Africa. Number one is the Springboks. How do you compare a club to a national team? That shows the power of this brand.”
