Pitso Names 4 Chiefs’ Dangerman

Posted on November 8, 2025

Pitso Mosimane has revealed which four Kaizer Chiefs players he is worried about ahead of the CAF Champions League final next week.

The Al Ahly coach will play in his second successive final after lifting the trophy with the Egyptian giants last year.

Ahead of the game, Mosimane has seemingly already started to analyse Amakhosi’s strengths and weaknesses pointing out their danger at set pieces as well as which four players could hurt Al Ahly.

“They are strong and set pieces. They are strong, they have good good height. I mean Mathoho and all those people, about five players are tall,” he told the SAFJA during a virtual press conference.

“I was watching their game yesterday, watching their set pieces yesterday. Ai ai ai, big boys! There is Castro, Mathoho, Mathoho’s  partner (Daniel Cardoso), there is Nurkovic, five big boys.

“So that gives them an advantage of playing in Champions League, crosses and headers. They score a lot of headers, and that’s one of the things that also determines Champions League football.”

Mosimane previously called Chiefs an “awkward team” and now gave some more insight on his reasoning, saying Amakhosi have proven to always get out of trouble on their way to the final.

“The rigidness of the midfield, the hard working of Bernard Parker. The element of Nurkovic and Castro, and Mathoho at set pieces,” he added.

“The rigidness of not giving much away at home, (they) don’t care if they have the ball or not, they can suffer in the match, no problem.

“They suffered against Simba, they survived. They suffered in Morocco, they survived. They suffer, they got four against Wydad at a neutral venue in the group stages, they survived. They got three at Simba, they survived.

“So this tenacity you have to give respect to it. They are survivors. They, I don’t know, they can live in the desert. Because now I’m living in the desert, you start to understand how it came in and works. You can have a live in the desert.

“So those guys are really soldiers, survivors. I don’t know what you can call them. They get out of trouble, like you never thought they’ll get out of trouble. They are like that. So that makes them special.”
