Cardoso On Shalulile’s Strong Run After Transfer Speculation

Posted on November 3, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has opened up on Peter Shalulile’s strong run despite coming from the uncertainty over his future at the club.

The Namibian striker was the subject of intense transfer speculation, with a move to Tunisian club Espérance de Tunis said to have come close to completion.

In a major turn of events during the early stages of the season, the transfer speculation faded, and the 32-year-old remained with the Tshwane giants.

Despite making only six starts across his 11 matches, the centre-forward has still managed to find the back of the net four times in all competitions this season.

Cardoso spoke highly of Shalulile, praising his patience and professionalism despite missing matches, and commending him for continuing to show his prowess, netting goals for Bafana Ba Style.

“We believe Peter is having a good moment right now, he’s much happier,” said Cardoso during the pre-match press conference.

“But that also came from the beginning of the season, the situation that Peter had. There was [uncertainty] regarding him staying at the club.

“There was some questions but when the hearts are together, the smile appears, the performances appear. For some time, Peter has been training very well and is committed in the job.

“But he didn’t just play sooner because as you understand he can’t score goals almost in every match. We don’t usually line up two strikers at the same moment.

“So, Peter waited with patience, hard work and belief, as professional as he was waiting for the moment. Peter has stood up and showed again the level of player he is and most of all how much he’s committed with us, with the work he does with teammates and the club.”
