Chiefs coach honest about Amakhosi performance

Posted on November 1, 2025

On Friday against Durban City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Kaizer Chiefs found their first win in the Betway Premiership after four attempts.

The game was locked at 0-0 until substitute Flavio Silva struck in the 88th minute, thanks to a classy cross from his fellow substitute Gaston Sirino.

KAIZER CHIEFS CO-COACH CEDRIC KAZE ADMITS TO DISAPPOINTING DISPLAY

Chatting to the media after the game, coach Kaze said the performance was not up to standard, but the three points are welcome.

Prior to the game, Amakhosi had grabbed a comfortable 3-1 win over Congolese side AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup. In the league, there had been three draws against Marumo Gallants, AmaZulu FC and Siwelele FC.

“Sunday, we had a very tough game mentally, physically,” the Burundian told SuperSport TV. “Today it’s true that we were not at our best but it’s a league, it’s a marathon you need to win even when we’re not at our best.

“Because I remember few weeks ago there were some games we had like 70% possession, 20 shots on target we didn’t win the game. It’s those games like today you’re not at our best and you need to win to get the three points,” Kaze added.

ORLANDO PIRATES TO FACE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

While the victory lifted Kaizer Chiefs to third spot, above Orlando Pirates, the Buccaneers still have to play this weekend. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side will take on the champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday at 15:30.
