Kaizer Chiefs products spotted training with Orlando Pirates

Posted on October 31, 2025

It’s nigh unheard of to hear Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates players mentioned in the same sentence – unless of course it’s in the build-up to a Soweto derby.

However, that unspoken rule was broken when Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane jumped ship from Mayfair to Naturena at the start of this season.

Now a couple of Amakhosi products have been spotted at Mayfair with reports suggesting they have already joined the Buccaneers.

CHIEFS PRODUCTS JOIN PIRATES DDC SIDE

Kaizer Chiefs loanees Mthokozisi Balakasi and Ayanda Rwanda have been spotted with Orlando Pirates.

“Kaizer Chiefs loanees Mthokozisi Balakasi and Ayanda Rorwana have reappeared at Amakhosi’s arch-rivals Orlando Pirates,” reports suggest.

The duo have reportedly joined the Bucs in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

“Balakasi and Rorwana have joined Bucs in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League for the 2025/26 campaign,” further reports added.

FROM NATURENA TO MAYFAIR FOR EX-AMAKHOSI LOANEES

Both players were originally from Amakhosi’s academy.

Now, Rorwana has joined Orlando Pirates’ feeder team, Pele Pele, while Balakasi has joined La Masia.

They developed in Naturena’s structures, but didn’t make a successful transition to the Kaizer Chiefs senior team.

Both Balakasi and Rorwana were once tipped to be future stars in South Africa.

They both played in the DDC alongside the likes of Njabulo Blom, Happy Mashiane, Given Thibedi and Samkelo Zwane.

Unlike, Balakasi and Rorwana, most of those Kaizer Chiefs products had success with Amakhosi’s senior side.

It will be interesting to see if they fare better at Mayfair with Orlando Pirates than they did at Naturena with Kaizer Chiefs’ DDC side.

Meanwhile, this former Chiefs attacker is open to returning to Naturena.
