Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has discussed plans as his side will soon start to prepare for the upcoming AFCON.
The continental competition will take place in Morocco between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026.
Bafana will be aiming to take the next step in this edition, looking to improve upon their last tournament’s semifinal elimination by the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Riding the momentum of their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, Bafana will kick off their AFCON preparations with a friendly match against Zambia on 14 November.
Thereafter, South Africa will assemble for the camp on 8 December where they will play friendlies before heading to Morocco.
“We will start the preparations on the 8th of December,” said Broos.
“So, we will go to Tuks here in Pretoria and we will stay there until the 17th because we have to be in Morocco five days before the first game.
“So, the day before we leave, we will play a friendly game. We are looking at who we will play against.
“And then we play [group stages] on 22, 26 and 29. And let’s hope that we will remain there for next year [in the knockout stages].
“I still have to go to the World Cup draw. Probably, we will play Zambia on the 14th next month. After that, I go to Belgium for two weeks.
“After that, I fly to Washington for the draw and will be back to SA. Again, I would have liked to start a little bit earlier but yeah for the second time PSL didn’t collaborate because there’s Carling [Knockout] Cup final.
“I’m happy [Mamelodi] Sundowns and [Kaizer] Chiefs are already out.”
