It’s been 12 years. Kaizer Chiefs are back in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) group stages, and they did it in style, sinking AS Simba 3-1 at Dobsonville.

Following a goalless stalemate in the first leg in Lubumbashi last weekend, Amakhosi came out flying in Soweto, with all three goals coming in the first half through Etiosa Ighodaro (3rd minute), Zitha Kwinika (14th) and Glody Lilepo (26th).
The result came as a huge relief for co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, who had gone four matches without a win, a run that included a painful Carling Knockout exit to Stellenbosch FC.
The progression to the CAFCC will offer Kaizer Chiefs an additional opportunity to win a second title in two seasons after the Nedbank Cup championship last term, the club’s first in a decade.
