New Nigerian striker starts for Chiefs vs Simba

The Soweto giants welcome AS Simba today at Dobsonville Stadium, hoping to end a frustrating run of four winless matches and book a rare spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

In the 2013/14 season, Kaizer Chiefs were sent packing in the round of 16 by Ivorian giants ASEC Mimos 3-1 on aggregate.

Coming into this afternoon’s clash in Soweto, the Phefeni Glamour Boys held Simba to a goallesss draw out in Lubumbashi, DR Congo last weekend.

Looking at the overall form guide, the Kaizer Chiefs have not won a football match in four attempts. The last win was in the first round qualifiers on penalties against Angola’s Kabuscorp after the tie ended 1-1 on aggregate.

Amakhosi have since drawn 1-1 with AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership, lost on penalties to Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Knockout last 16 after the game ended goalless, followed by two 0-0 draws against Simba in this competition and Siwelele in the domestic league.
