Bad injury blow, youngster returns, bad draw

Posted on October 23, 2025

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at another disappointing result, some bad injury news and a slide down the Betway Premiership table.

Chiefs managed only a 0-0 draw with Siwelele, failing to leapfrog Orlando Pirates.

Khanyisa Mayo has also picked up a knock.

Updated Betway Premiership table: Kaizer Chiefs draw AGAIN

Vilakazi returns to the starting XI for Chiefs

Mfundo ‘Obrigado’ Vilakazi claimed two assists in AmaJita’s 5-0 win over New Caledonia in the group stages of the U20 World Cup. He also slotted a penalty in the Round of 16 defeat to Colombia. However, for Chiefs, he’s hardly had a look-in this term. The teenager had only played 73 minutes across all competitions this season, all as a substitute, prior to the club’s 0-0 draw with Siwelele, Vilakazi’s first start of the campaign. Can this kickstart his season?

Kaizer Chiefs suffer injury setback

Khanyisa Mayo was taken off with a hamstring issue in the dying moments of Chiefs’ 0-0 draw with Siwelele. It means he’ll miss their clash with Simba on Sunday, the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second qualifying round. The first leg ended goalless.

27-year-old Mayo is still eyeing a return to the national team setup:

“I would definitely want to get back to the national team, if the team [Chiefs] is doing good, then we stand a chance to be in the national team,” Mayo said as per FARPost.

Kaizer Chiefs’ history is beyond doubt

Let’s not forget the club’s 55 trophies in their storied history, including 13 league crowns. They’re also, by far and away, the most followed club in the land. However, a fourth draw of the campaign is proof that Chiefs have hit a sticky patch in the 2025-2026 campaign.
