Orlando Pirates’ hopes of advancing in the CAF Champions League are hanging by a thread after their 3-0 defeat against the Congolese side Saint-Éloi Lupopo this past weekend.

The Buccaneers will now head into the second leg of the tie needing to overcome this deficit. Following a lacklustre display in DR Congo, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men must go all out on the attack as they search for goals.

Coming off a narrow 1-0 victory over Polokwane City, the Sea Robbers will enter Saturday’s match with renewed confidence.

What time is the Orlando Pirates’ CAF Champions League match?

Pirates will host Saint-Éloi at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00, and the match will be broadcast on SABC channels.

The Buccaneers advanced through the first preliminary round with a convincing 7-0 aggregate victory over the Lesotho side Lioli.

How can Orlando Pirates reach the group stages?

In the second leg, the Sea Robbers will need to secure a 4-0 win to advance to the group stages. That seems unlikely given the calibre of the opposing team. In the first preliminary round against Lioli, Pirates scored four goals at home, ultimately achieving a 7-0 aggregate win.

Against the Congolese giants, the Buccaneers must play their best game of the season to revive their hopes of winning the CAF Champions League title.

Currently, Orlando Pirates appear to be in a difficult situation after being exposed on the road. In last season’s semi-final, the Buccaneers also suffered a 3-2 defeat to Pyramids in a match that they should have won.

Can Pirates find a way to turn the tie around?
