Chiefs Winless League Run Extends To Four Games

Posted on October 23, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs were left frustrated again, as their winless run in the league extended to four games with a 0-0 draw against Siwelele at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The first half gave a sense of deja vu from the AmaZulu clash last month, where Chiefs dominated possession, with plenty of final third entries but frustration all round with debutant Etiosa Ighodaro up top.

Ighodaro, who joined the club as a free agent in the off-season after his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns expired, showed glimpses of what’s to come, with neat build-up play, close control but had little to no service in areas of danger.

Meanwhile, Siwelele, who primiraly looked to play on the counter, had the best chance of the opening 45, which Brandon Petersen managed to pull out a impressive save 1v1 with Chibuike Ohizu.

Amakhosi went into the break with six attempts and goal, to Siwelele’s three – but both only had one each on target, which saw the half end with sections of supporters disgruntled – added to the whistle being blown before the 45 minute mark.

Glody Lilepo, who was introduced for Wandile Duba at the break came closest to breaking the deadline but saw him effort float over the post of Ricardo Goss, and the game opened up to an end to end affair in the final stages after a flurry of substitutes from either side.

The result leaves Chiefs in fourth, while Lehlohonolo Seema’s charges drop down to 15th after Stellenbosch beat Golden Arrows 4-3 at Athlone Stadium.
