Kaze Details Chiefs’ Returnees, Key Defender Doubtful

Posted on October 21, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has provided more details on the players available for selection ahead of facing Siwelele.

Amakhosi will host the Free State outfit at FNB Stadium this Wednesday for the Betway Premiership clash. The kickoff time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

The Soweto giants will be aiming for maximum points at home after dropping points in their last Betway Premiership match, which ended in a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu.

Kaze says they have received major boost ahead of taking on Lehlohonolo Seema’s side. The team has welcomed back Lebohang Maboe, Etiosa Ighodaro, Nkanyiso Shinga, and Thabiso Monyane all returning from injury and training lately.

However, Monyane remains a doubt for the match due to fitness concerns.

“There are players that have returned on the field,” said Kaze during the club’s media open day at Naturena on Monday.

“Ighodaro has been training for the last 10 days, Monyane came back three days ago and Shinga has been training for the last 10 days.”

Moreover, Luke Baartman and Mfundo Vilakazi have returned from the under-20 FIFA World Cup, while Asanele Velebayi is also available for selection.

“Velebayi is training while Baartman and Vilakazi are both back from the World Cup,” he added.

“Monyane might be a little bit short on his fitness [levels] to come back this week but others are available for selection.”
