Kaizer Chiefs made the right decision to appoint Ben Youssef, says former player

Posted on October 17, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi has agreed with the club’s decision to appoint Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze as co-coaches for this season.

Amakhosi parted ways with Nasreddine Nabi earlier this month after just one full season. The Tunisian won the Nedbank Cup with the club, but poor results saw him unable to see out his full contract.

His assistants, Ben Youssef and Kaze, have been appointed as caretaker coaches until the end of the season.

“I think it’s a good decision that they have taken to continue with the two coaches. To be honest, they have been doing well, so there will be continuity because the players understand them,” Tsotetsi told Soccer Laduma.

“I think things will settle now a bit because players will know who is in charge for the season. I think they will be able to move forward now and focus. It’s a good decision.”

Both Ben Youssef and Kaze were in charge of Kaizer Chiefs in their first three league matches of the season. At the time, Nabi was attending his wife in Tunisia.

Amakhosi won their opening three matches under the two coaches; however, upon Nabi, return, the team only won once in three league games. After a devastating 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United, the Tunisian coach was suspended before parting ways with the club earlier this month.

Under Kaze and Ben Youssef, Kaizer Chiefs will look to compete for the Betway Premiership as well as the CAF Confederation Cup.

Will Kaze and Ben Youssef improve Amakhosi?
