Former Chiefs Midfielder Retires – iDiski Times

Posted on October 16, 2025

Former Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu midfielder Keagan Buchanan has announced his retirement from professional football.

Buchanan started his football in the youth of Ajax Cape Town, then moved to Old Mutual academy and later Super Sport United.

He made his professional debut at Winners Park, then joined FC Cape Town, before breaking through at Blomfontein Celtic. From Siwelele he joined Kaizer Chiefs, and later Maritzburg United and AmaZulu.

In the final stages of his playing career, he played for Cape Town Spurs and has now announced his retirement, after taking up an admin role in Western Cape-based ABC Motsepe League club Hope FC.

“From an 8-year-old kid at Ajax with a dream, to living that dream on pitches across the country — I can only be grateful,” he stated on social media.

“Football has given me everything: memories, lessons, friendships, and moments I’ll carry for life.
As this chapter closes, I give all glory to God for every step, every setback, and every comeback.

“Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey — teammates, coaches, fans, family, and friends.

“This game shaped me. But most importantly, it prepared me for what’s next.”
