Kaizer Chiefs run the risk losing top young striker

Posted on October 16, 2025

Mlungisi Ngubane fears that Kaizer Chiefs might lose one of their top prospects if they don’t find a role for him soon.

Young striker Naledi Hlongwane is still on the fringes at Naturena.

The club invested heavily in their attacking options during the winter window.

Ngubane fears for Hlongwane’s Kaizer Chiefs future

SA soccer legend Mlungisi Ngubane believes Kaizer Chiefs might live to regret not accommodating the talents of Naledi Hlongwane earlier.

“They recently promoted a young player, Naledi Hlongwane, from their DDC, and he performed well. However, now he seems to be lost in the squad,” Ngubane told KickOff.

“He’s a promising striker with an eye for goal. Something isn’t right. If they’re not careful, they might lose him like they did with Ndamane.”

Kaizer Chiefs meet Siwelele next

Chiefs have endured a rocky patch of late, losing in the first round of the Telkom Knockout to Stellenbosch on penalties. That followed a sequence of three winless league matches; a 1-3 defeat to Sekhukhune and 1-1 draws against Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu. Next up is a battle with Siwelele.

Chiefs vs Siwelele kicks off on Wednesday, 22 October at 19:30. It will be aired on SS PSL (DSTv channel 202, available to Compact subscribers.
