Downs Ladies Thump UP & Galaxy Queens Bounce Back

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies showed no mercy as they thrashed neighbours University of Pretoria 5-0 while TS Galaxy Queens returned to winning form in the past weekend’s Hollywoodbets Super League ties.

Nthabiseng Majiya opened the scoring as early as the first minute with Boitumelo Rabale netting her ninth goal of the season. Refilwe Tholakele and Noxolo Cesane contributed a goal each from the spot in a game that had to be paused because of lightning. Banyana Ba Style now have 59 points from 23 matches. Tuks were unfortunate to score an own goal and they dropped to 12th place on the log with 27 points from the same number of games.

Galaxy returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies at Kabokweni Stadium. Babalwa Mngxunya scored the all-important goal that saw the Rockets move up to second place on the standings with 51 points from 23 outings. TUT dropped to fifth position with 44 points in 26 games.

Elsewhere, Jessica Wade scored a brace while Bonolo Mokoma chipped in another goal to help JVW FC defeat City Lads 3-0 at UJ’s Auckland Park Stadium. The Blue Diamonds rose one place to fourth on the table with 48 points in 23 encounters while the Gqeberha-based outfit remained in 13th position with 24 points in 25 matches.

Meanwhile, the game between University of Western Cape and Durban Ladies which was scheduled at UWC Stadium did not take place with visitors failing to arrive for the clash. UWC was awarded a 2-0 win that saw them move to ninth spot with 32 points in 22 outings while the KZN side remained at the bottom and technically relegated with eight points in 26 matches.
