Nabi breaks silence after Chiefs departure

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has shared a heartfelt message to his former club.

The 60-year-old Tunisian tactician was suspended by the club last month after Amakhosi‘s 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United. On Friday, the club issued a statement which confirmed that Nabi was no longer the head coach.

“As Salam Aleykum, To my players: I could not say goodbye and hug you as I would have wished, but know that I am proud of you and grateful for all the efforts you made during my time at the club,” Nabi wrote.

“To the young players: you are the jewels of this club. Believe in yourselves, work hard, and learn from every moment. I ask you to dream big regarding your personal careers and to have great ambitions equal to your talent.

Nabi thanked Chiefs chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung, as well as the supporters and technical team. The former Young African coach won the Nedbank Cup on his first season at Amakhosi, which was the club’s first trophy in 10 years.

“I leave with intact pride of having worn these gold and black colours, of having ended the drought, and of having been part of the greatest club in South Africa. “Shapa Khosi Shapaa,” Nabi concluded

Which club will Nasreddine Nabi join next?

The Tunisian was spotted in Egypt last weekend during Pyramids’ match. He has been linked with a return to Yanga where he won back-to-back league titles a few years ago.

With Nabi gone at Chiefs, his assistants, Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have taken over as co-coaches for the rest of the season. Despite a promising start to the season, Amakhosi have recently struggled for form following their loss to Sekhukhune United last month, which ended their unbeaten run in the league.

Where will Chiefs finish this season?
