Broos Makes Bafana Assertion For WC

Posted on October 8, 2025

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has asserted that he has huge belief in his charges to seal passage to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

South Africa have unfortunately dropped into second place behind Benin though on same points (14) after fielding an ineligible player in Teboho Mokoena in their 2-0 win over Lesotho.

This error might come costly for the national team should they stumble in the coming two fixtures against Zimbabwe and Rwanda but Broos says his team deserves to play part in next year’s global showpiece.

“There are no doubts, there have never been any doubts from my side, and I will try to transfer this to the players at a meeting we will have on Tuesday [today],” he said, according to safa.net.

“I believe in this group, and I am sure that they will do everything in their power to win that game on Friday. Why should we doubt ourselves now after our performances in the qualifiers?

“If there is a team that deserves to go to the World Cup, it is South Africa.”

The Belgian tactician has been forced into two changes due to injuries with Kaizer Chiefs’ Mduduzi Shabalala replacing Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng while Mamelodi Sundowns forward Iqraam Rayners’ place has been taken up by Evidence Makgopa from Pirates.
